I invited Audra Laughlin to my studio yesterday for a fun photoshoot. I had photographed her a few weeks before for the first time for a roller derby poster, and it was her very first time to formally model in front of a photographer. I thought she had a very unique look and was very beautiful and athletic. I wanted to try some different type of photographs with her. It was a chance for me to play around with my lighting and let her practice at modeling and gain some experience and portfolio pictures.
Since she loves roller derby we starte out with that theme. We just shot on simple white and I spent my time working with her, trying to build her confidence, getting her to experiment on fun poses. I realy liked the one with her hair thrown to the side and since there wasn’t a lot of other color in the shot, I desaturated everything else in the shot except her red hair and sunglasses. This photo to the right is one of my favorites from the shoot.
Later she changed into a different outfit and I turned off the background lights and got a totally different look.
I really enjoyed working with Audra and I think she has a very unique look that many advertisers who are targeting younger audiences are looking for. I hope to work with her again soon.
