I love taking pictures at our nearby drag racing track in Noble. Sunsets are often spectacular there. I was there recently filming video for my customer Tombo Racing and as the sun dropped over the horizon, I just couldn’t resist pulling out my Nikon D3 and grabbing a few action shots. The D3 works great at these higher ISO’s and low light. This kind of photography would be almost impossible with film.
The main problem I have when shooting here is that I often forget to bring earplugs. The noise is ear splitting and I had trouble hearing a day afterward. I tucked a few extra earplugs into my camera bag for the next time I am there.
Sometimes pictures turn out better when converted to black and white. I really liked this picture but in color it just did not have the punch it should, despite having an orange car. I felt it was much more dramatic as a black and white image.
