Once again one of my photos was used on the cover of Oklahoma Living Magazine, the states most widely distributed publication. This time the brief was to shoot some type of story that said “shop local”. Not a lot of details other than that. I knew that Anna Politano, OK Living Editor, is wanting to attract a younger readership, so I thought what would be a better way to show shopping local than to have a young attractive female co-op member shopping in main street a popular rural town. I have photographed Amie Taylor before and knew she lived in Noble. A quick phone call and I found out she was a co-op member so we set up a shoot in Purcell, Oklahoma, close to her home in Noble. I knew Purcell had a brick paved street with a busy downtown so figured we could find something there that depicted rural Oklahoma.
I met Aime and her husband Edwin right before sunset for this shoot. I used a single gridded octabox to light her in the evening sun. A few shopping bags as props and we were good to go.
Once we got the main cover shot done, I talked Edwin into joining Aime walking down the street and got the two of them in this photo. It was used as the opening spread on the story.
