I have used both a darkroom and photoshop for my images for many years. I got started in photography a 1996, a few years before photoshop and digital cameras became popular. While I was a very early adopter of digital – my first camera was a Nikon D1 in about 2001 – I still needed to know how to print images in a darkroom. I was never a guru in the darkroom but had passable experience.
This fantastic video shows how the things we used to do in the darkroom related to photoshop today – dodging, burning, selecting, masking. While this is primarily for black and white prints, the concept was basically the same for color, except with color we also had to use color filtration and no safe light so complete darkness.
Watch this video. I think you will enjoy it, especially if you have never spent time in a darkroom.
