I shot this 4×5 photo of Micha Young in studio a few weeks ago. Our goal was to create a “Hollywood” style lighting using hard studio strobes. I knew Micha’s facial structure and skin could handle this harsh lighting style so chose her for this shoot. Only about 1/4 of the 4×5 sheets we shot that day turned out but that is par for the course when shooting large format sheet film, and is one of the reasons I started my 4x5x365 project – it forced me to shoot more sheet film so that I get my process down and lower my reject rate.
