Two years ago I wrote and photo illustrated a story about compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFL) verses LED light bulbs. Back then LED’s were still fairly new and a bit more expensive than CFL bulbs. Of course since that time prices have dropped and LED lights are really the best thing around, both quality and value wise. I spent several days doing research on the story and when it was time to submit the story, I needed a way to show how the two bulbs were competing in the marketplace. I recruited my niece McKenzie Hanks to model for the shoot, and just shot it on my back porch using a few studio strobes and natural light. Just a bit of work in photoshop and the photo was ready for submission to my editor. The story ran in Oklahoma Living Magazine.

As you can see from this out-take below, I shot this on my back porch using natural light mixed with studio strobes.
