Today is another mountain bike picture, but with my long-time friend and riding buddy from way back in the 1980’s – Patrick McFarlin. Pat was a friend of my wife’s uncle Gary Thorne. They rode dirt bikes together at the old Draper Lake riding area. I was riding street bikes at the time and eventually decided to start riding dirt bikes with Gary – and by association, with Pat. I was quite a bit younger, or at least seemed younger. Gary and Pat were both about 20 years older than me, but I enjoyed riding with them.
I lost touch with Pat when Kay’s uncle Gary quit riding in the 1990’s and just happened to run across him again at the Draper Lake mountain bike trails one day in late 2017. He doesn’t seem to have aged or changed much, but is now riding mountain bikes rather than motorcycles. How cool is that? Way to stay young Pat.
