Maintenance for Adventure Riders

Recently I held a motorcycle maintenance day event at my home shop geared toward adventure motorcycle riders. I invited world-renowned adventure rider and trainer Bill Dragoo to demonstrate the toolkit he uses while traveling the world on his motorcycle. Bill also talked about training for adventure riders.

I invited people to bring their motorcycles and we could work together to perform routine maintenance tasks. Unfortunately, pending wet weather meant only a few hardy souls rode their bikes. One person brought a rear tire to change, and I demonstrated how to change a rear tire of my own personal 2016 BMW F650GS Sertao.

My company SageNet sponsored pizza for the group, and Ted Leslie with MyBikerAttorney provided refreshments. While riders were from all segments of society, several were in the IT industry, so after the event we hung around and talked about IT issues over beers!

I decided to change the rear tire on my BMW F650GS Sertao during our maintenance event. I I paused while Bill talks about the tools he carries on his travels.

We had originally planned to meet outside, but intermittent rain drove us inside for much of the presentation.

An impending downpour meant many participants drive their trucks to the event rather than risk the deluge.

My company SageNet sponsored the event. The SWAG – especially the socks – were quite popular. Everyone likes free SWAG!
I got up early before work to prep my shop for the event. I try to keep my shop fairly clean, but Oklahoma wind means I have to sweep it once per week to keep the dust off the floors.
