Do you see a repeating pattern here? I like to photograph my Jeep Wrangler. Well, I need a subject. I hate photos with out a subject. And my new Wrangler made a great subject on this trip.
This is our third Jeep. Kay and I first purchased a 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ 2-door with an automatic transmission and drove it all over the place, including the rugged mountains of Colorado. We loved the TJ but didn’t like the automatic transmission.

Our second Jeep was a 2014 4-door JK Unlimited. It was Kay’s daily driver so she needed more room than a 2-door Jeep. This time we purchased it with a manual 6-speed transmission – and absolutely loved driving it. So darn much fun. As a busy Realtor Kay puts a lot of miles on her vehicles, and we eventually sold it and have purchased her a few more new vehicles in the interim.
We both now have fairly nice “daily drivers” for work. Well, I work from home, so mine is a 2015 4-door Chevy Silverado that we use for long vacations and hauling our motorcycles around.

We recently decided to buy another Jeep Wrangler. This time we ordered it from the factory EXACTLY how we wanted it – 2-door, manual transmission, and all the bells and whistles, including most importantly, the Rubicon trip. For those who don’t know, the Rubicon model from Jeep is dedicated to their super off-road model. It has all the really cool off-road goodies like front and rear differential lockout hubs, automatic swaybar disconnect, heavy-duty axles, underbody rock guard protection, and lower gearing ratio. While some people buy it for the name and don’t really understand what the Rubicon package offers, WE know. And on our first off-road trip three days after purchasing we were already putting those features to use. On this trip I had the Rubicon in 4WD low with all the lockers engaged, the swaybar disconnected, and bouncing over rocks at 3 mph. We also added a front trail camera, which allows us to see where the front wheels are going while driving over rough rocks.
We plan to put some rock slide steps and a front winch on soon. What is amazing is that this Wrangler drives SO much better and quieter than our other Wranglers when on the highway. We are beyond pleased. It. is a great toy to take a long multi-day trip on the highway, then jump off and explore some challenging back roads.
We love our new Wrangler. It is our dream machine.
