I attended an early morning AIGA meeting titled “Coffee for Creatives” at Elemental Coffee recently. When I walked in I met Bob, a homeless man selling the Curbside Chronicle. The Chronicle is a publication made specifically to help the homeless make a bit of money. They can buy copies and then sell them on the street for a markup. The Chronicle works with the homeless to teach them business practices and how to survive and eventually move into a home.
After our meeting I stopped to talk a bit more with Bob and discovered that he had been selling the Curbside Chronicle at Elemental Coffee for 8 years. I asked for his last name and he said “that doesn’t matter”. He asked me if I was going to publish the images on social media. “Do you want me to?” He said “Sure, that might help my business.”
So if you stop to get coffee in downtown OKC at Elemental Coffee (8th and Hudson) be sure and buy a Chronicle from Bob, and tell him “the guy with the big camera” sent you.
