I thought it would be cool to try and get an action shot of the motorcycle street drag races in Boley with my Toyo View VX-125 large-format film camera. For a fleeting moment I thought about setting up in the middle of the street, but quickly realized that would be a really dumb move with the race bikes passing by at 150+ mph. So I moved to the side of the finish line so that I could get a view of the action. I knew the race bikes would be a blur since I was shooting Ilford Delta 100 film, but it was sunny outside so hoping for the best. I was at 1/250th at about F11. I was pretty happy with the results and the blur helps to denote the action.
Shooting action photos with a 4×5 camera on a tripod is not easy!
