The last time I was at the Hoover Dam was before 911 and before COVID. The bypass bridge was not even planned – we drove over the actual Hoover Dam back then. We also got to tour inside the dam. I was surprised when we had to take the bypass bridge and then couldn’t see the dam from the bridge. Luckily we were able to drive over the Hoover Dam from the Nevada side.
I wanted to get a picture of the bypass bridge but didn’t have a wide-angle lens with me for my Toyo 4×5 view camera. I had stripped down my 4×5 kit for weight and had left my Komura 75mm lens at home. I don’t shoot with that lens much and don’t really like it all that well, but it would have work I think for this shot. But I didn’t have it with me, so instead I had to settle for this picture.
