I knew Ben Dragoo through his father Bill, who himself is a master woodworker. Ben took up the craft and has a nice shop on Main Street in Norman. He does very high quality – and expensive – work building unique, unusual pieces and repairing family heirlooms. I took a very old, very nice and very delicate display case that my Aunt Mary Jean Penney owned to Ben for repairs. My mom had bumped into it with her wheelchair and broken a door, which ended up getting lost. Ben will get it fixed back like original. He isn’t cheap, but his work is top-notch.
While I was there I asked him if I could take a portrait of him at work with my Toyo View VX-125 large-format film camera for my 4x5x365 project. I thought the old-school work he did would vibe well with the black and white film. I was pretty happy with the results.
