I grew around horses. A lot of my dad’s riding and roping buddies had mules. Most were much smaller than these two giant mules at the US Cavalry competition in El Reno. These two mules were picked because they were gigantic (for a mule) and would be used to pull a heavy supply wagon for the Army re-enactment. I really wanted a picture of these two, so I set up my camera right in front of them and snapped this picture on Ilford Delta Pro 100 4×5 film. It ended up being one of my favorite photos from the day.
