My son Adam Pratt recently competed in his first Jiu Jitsu tournament in downtown OKC. He wrestled and played baseball in high school, then did amateur boxing but after a tragic accident in the ring, he quit boxing and started raising his family. Now at 34 years old, he decided to get back into the ring in a non-contact sport. He started training about a year ago, and entered this tournament in two divisions – 175 lb no G, and 175 lb G – in other words, he had to weigh in at or under 175 lbs and competed in two classes – one with tight-fitting shorts and a t-shirt, the other with a fighting martial arts drape, aka G. You see him wearing a blue one in the photos below.
It was pretty awesome that he won second place in both divisions, in his first tournament. The competition was pretty tough and I believe he won three fights in one division and four fights in the other division, but lost in the finals in both divisions.
My grandsons Charlie and Jamison – Adam’s boys – took some of the non-G photos.
