Working cow ranches

A few years ago I had a fun assignment to photograph working cow ranches across Oklahoma – one in southeast Oklahoma, one in north central Oklahoma, and another in far western Oklahoma. These are photos from rounding up cattle one morning on a ranch in western Oklahoma.

I took this photo at sunset while rounding up cattle in western Oklahoma.
These cowboys work herding cattle every single day.
They look slightly different than the cowpokes on the TV series Yellowstone, but these are the real deal cowboys.
It was a blast riding this rangeland in far western Oklahoma looking for cattle in these valleys and draws.
This dog worked right alongside his cowboy friend. Love those chaps.
This is the way cowboys take a break – resting on the saddlehorn.
Warming a frisky colt up before our ride.
Checking hoofs before our ride.
These horses may not look like fancy show horses, but they sure know how to work cattle.
