I just completed and passed a training course on Lenovo Storage Systems. This was a challenging course delving into the details of Lenovo’s vast array of storage options, ranging from JBOD disk enclosures to Fiber Channel switches to all-flash NVMe storage controllers. I learned how to configure systems that can scale to multiple petabytes of storage and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars or even more.
Most of my career has been in networking technology, so learning the nuances of storage such as snapshots, dynamic disk pools, Metrocluster, cloud tiering, storage area networks, data encryption, and other advanced storage technologies was quite interesting. The test was through Pearson Vue and was surprisingly tricky – in fact, it took me two tries to pass it.
I now feel very confident with Lenovo storage products. I felt their training program was excellent and thorough. I already had a solid foundation on storage but was a decade behind. Now I feel caught up and can understand enough to talk intelligently and then bring in Lenovo storage experts when needed.
