Oklahoma City’s Plaza district hosts an annual “Skate the Plaza” event where they block off the streets and set up cool skateboard and roller skating obstacles. Multiple bands share music, street vendors offer their wares, and a wide variety of people from all walks of life show up to skateboard and rollerskate right on the street.
I took my Nikon Z9 camera and shot mostly with my Nikkor 85 1.4 F-mount lens attached to my Z9 via an adapter. While I started by shooting some action, I quickly turned to shooting street portraits, which I much prefer over action. There were so many interesting people to photograph that I ended up with nearly 500 shots before the evening was done. With the Nikon Z9 48-megapixel files, this meant a lot of storage space and editing once I got home. Adobe Lightroom Classic made short work of the task. Below are my favorite pictures from the evening.
