Off to Colorado – but first the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles

I had a conference to attend in Denver and rather than fly, I decided to drive our Jeep Wrangler for the conference, and later Kay will fly to Denver and we will Jeep around Colorado.

I had planned to stop and meet a customer in Stratford, Texas in the afternoon, but those plans changed so I was free to drive backroads north. As it got late afternoon I tried to book a hotel in Raton, New Mexico or Trinidad, Colorado but all the good hotels were booked because of the summer tourist season and the fact that it was Saturday night. I finally was able to book a cheap room in Raton, but I then looked at reviews and decided that I needed to find something else.

I remembered seeing the Great Plains Bunkhouse on the Trans-America Trail Facebook page, so booked a room there. More on that location in the next post.
